The European Parliamentary Labour Party

Labour has 19 of the 78 British Euro-MPs in the European Parliament, the second-largest party. Like most national parliaments, the European Parliament is divided into political groups and Labour Euro-MPs sit with other European Socialists and Social Democrats in the Group of the Party of European Socialists (PES). The PES is the second largest group in the European Parliament - numbering 200 of the Parliament's 732 MEPs.

The EPLP has its own leadership and spokespeople representing Britain in Brussels and Strasbourg. Each Labour MEP is a full member of at least one European Parliament committee and a substitute member on another. Some are also members of European Parliament delegations for relations with countries outside the European Union.

The EPLP leadership is elected by all members twice during each five year parliamentary term. Labour's current leader in the European Parliament is Gary Titley, MEP for the North West.
